Featured Photographer

Brassai was a Hungarian photographer. He was born September 9th 1899. Brassai's real name was Gyula Halasz. Brassai, meaning ''from Brasso,''  got his factious name from his home town in Hungary. Along with being a world renowned photographer, he was also a sculptor, film-maker and writer. In 1920, Brassai  moved to Berlin and became a journalist for two popular papers, the Keliti, and the Napkelet. He then began studies at Berlin-Charlotten Academy of Fine Arts. In 1924 Brassi moved again, this time to the wonderful, inspiring, artful city of Paris. After his move, he than began where he left off, with journaling. He even had the chance to work with American writer, Henry Miller. Throughout his stay in Paris Brassai, while wandering the wandering streets of Paris, began his journey into photography. In 1933, Brassai published his first collection of photos. He named it Paris de Nuit, meaning Paris by Night. This earned Brassai great success, and international fame. This fame brought him much success in his future publications and other works.

Personally I am a huge fan of Brassai. His works are amazing. I have a fascination with cities, and architecture. I especially like this photo  because of the gargoyles, I think they add so much to the photo, because they aren't ''the norm'' and they are just so fascinating.
